The Department of Statistics at the University of Georgia (UGA) invites applications for the position of Lecturer, starting August 1, 2025. This is a 9-month full time non-tenure-track faculty position with a career ladder. The person in this position is expected to teach and serve as coordinator for a large introductory statistics course and will have the opportunity to teach a variety of additional undergraduate and lower-level graduate courses spanning a range of topics in statistics and data science. The person hired is expected to be engaged in the activities of the department and to play a major role in advancing the university's teaching mission.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in statistics, data science, or a related discipline by the time of appointment. Candidates with a doctorate in education coupled with a master's degree in statistics, data science, or biostatistics will also receive full consideration. Candidates with a master's degree in statistics, data science or related discipline who lack a doctorate will be considered but must document exceptional accomplishments in teaching statistics and/or course coordination at the undergraduate college level and must be approved for a terminal degree exception before hire. Credentials should reflect a strong commitment to teaching statistics and/or data science courses and have a record of accomplishment in instruction. Experience in a coordinator role (of duration one academic term or more) and in online instruction (teaching or designing at least one online course) are desirable. The position includes expectations to participate in departmental and institutional service activities, and to maintain a program of professional development.
