The NISS Graduate Student Network invites you to a virtual meet-up on computing tools that would be valuable to statistics or biostatistics Ph.D. students. In fact, understanding and being able to use these tools might be of value for faculty members as well! This overview will include tools such as R shiny and tidyverse among others.
The goal of this session is to introduce an overview of these tools and make the students aware of the benefits of investing time to learn more about them.
Mine Cetinkaya-Rundel, (University of Edinburgh, Duke University, RStudio), will be giving an overview and then for the remainder of the session the floor will be open for Questions & Answers.
Analisa Flores, (University of California, Riverside), will be moderating the event.

About the Speakers
Mine Cetinkaya-Rundel is a Senior Lecturer in Statistics and Data Science in the School of Maths at University of Edinburgh. She is currently on leave from her position as Associate Professor of the Practice in the Department of Statistical Science at Duke University as well as Professional Educator and Data Scientist at RStudio. She received her Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a B.S. in Actuarial Science from New York University’s Stern School of Business. Her work focuses on innovation in statistics pedagogy, with an emphasis on student-centered learning, computation, reproducible research, and open-source education.
Moderator Analisa Flores is an Assistant Professor of Teaching in the Department of Statistics at the University of California, Riverside (UCR). She earned her MS in Statistics and Ph.D. in Applied Statistics from UCR. Her research interests are in statistics education for undergraduate students.
