Many scientific research journals now require (or are considering requiring) that research data be made publicly available. Availability does not constitute adequacy of information for sound statistical analysis. The purpose of this workshop is to examine the statistical prerequisites for "available data" to permit analysis at various levels of complexity.
Editors of premier scientific journals will present their experience and articulate their goals for making data available to initiate a dialog with the statisticians at the workshop. The workshop output will be a white paper articulating the statistical considerations that will dictate the degree of complexity possible in a statistical analysis.
