The 8th Workshop on Biostatistics and Bioinformatics

May 5-7, 2023

Biostatistics and Bioinformatics have been playing a key and important role in statistics and other scientific research fields in recent years. The goal of this workshop is to stimulate research and to foster the interaction of researchers in Biostatistics & Bioinformatics research areas. The workshop will provide the opportunity for faculty and graduate students to meet the top researchers in a small group setting, identify important directions for future research, facilitate research collaboration.

The conference includes keynote presentations, workshop sessions and a poster session.

Travel awards for young and minority researchers are available.

Agenda

The keynote speaker is Dr. Nilanjan Chatterjee, Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Biostatistics and Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and the recipient of the COPSS Presidents' Award in 2011.

Invited speakers include:

Adrian Barbu, Florida State University
Andrew Brown, Clemson University
Hongyuan Cao, Florida State University
Sebastian Kurtek, Ohio State University
Mengling Liu, New York University
Shuangge Ma, Yale University
Bani Mallick, Texas A&M Univ.

There will be a poster session by young researchers and graduate students.

The workshop will be providing partial travel awards to selected conference participants. Priority will be given to senior graduate students, post-graduate, recent Ph.D's, junior faculty, and under-represented groups. Check the application of travel award for young and minority researchers.

In order to disseminate the biostatistics knowledge in support of the workshop, there will also be a short course during the conference. The short course "Learning and Implementing Bayesian Adaptive Designs" will be offered as a part of the conference program and held on the afternoon of Friday, May 08, 2020. The short course is a half-day (four hours) presentation taught by Dr. J. Jack Lee, Associate Vice President, Quantitative Sciences, Kennedy Foundation Chair in Cancer Research and Professor, Department of Biostatistics, Univ. of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. A course certificate is provided.
