Applications are invited for a full-time fixed-term position at the Professor of the Practice level, beginning July 1st, 2025.
The Department is looking for individuals with meaningful industry experience in areas related to Statistics, Operations Research, and/or Data Science. The Professor of Practice will be responsible for creating and supervising practicum courses at the M.S. and undergraduate levels, and will be the Department’s main point of contact with industry partners. This is a non-tenure track position with an initial contract of three years, with the possibility of renewal.
The primary purpose of this position is to help the Department create a robust set of courses for students to work on real world problems and develop the experience they will need to enter the job market. The successful candidate will have years of experience leading teams working on quantitative problems involving data analysis and decision making, preferably in a diverse set of areas, e.g., healthcare, finance, logistics, marketing, technology, etc. The position will also involve the mentoring of M.S. students, in particular, in relation to communication and presentation skills needed to enter careers in data science, operations research, and statistical consulting. In addition, the position will be expected to engage with other faculty members and help organize events between industry and academia.
Prospective candidates should hold a graduate degree (M.S. or doctoral degree) in Statistics, Operations Research, Data Science, or related fields.
